How to: Integrate SharePoint 2010 and Reporting Services 2008 R2

Here’s the steps to configure SharePoint 2010 with Reporting Services aka SSRS

Download the SQL Server® 2008 R2 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint® Technologies 2010 and install it on the Web-Front End Server.

How to: Install or Uninstall the Reporting Services Add-in

(You probably already have the Reporting Services Add-In installed for SharePoint so make sure that you check this in “Add/Remove Programs”, as the SP2010 prereq installer adds this add-in)

Now follow this steps to configure SSRS Config Manager:

1. “Start->Programs->Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2->Configuration Tools->Reporting Service Configuration Manager”

    1. Click “Connect”
    2. Click “Web Service URL”
    3. Click the URL that is displayed for the web service url (ensure that the web service responds it may take a few seconds or a minute or two)

i. If promoted, type “Domain\administrator” with password “password”

    1. Click “Execution Account”
    2. Click “specify an execution account” checkbox
    3. For account type “Domain\Administrator”
    4. For password, type “password”
    5. Click “Apply”
    6. Close the Configuration Manager

2. Now you need to configure the Add-In using SharePoint Central Administration:

  1. Configure Reporting Services Add-in
    1. Open Central administration
    2. Click “General Application Settings”
    3. Click “Reporting Services Integration”
    4. For report server url, type http://URL/ReportServer
    5. For the auth mode, select “Windows Authentication”
    6. For username, type “Domain\Administrator”
    7. For password, type “password”
    8. Click “OK”
    9. Click “Close”
    10. Click “Set server defaults”, just ensure that the page loads without error

[Ajay] you might need to reinstall reporting services

Hi Ajay, make sure that reporting services got installed correctly and that you can access the reporting services web service before trying to integrate with sharepoint.

Make sure that the reporting service is started correctly using sql congifuration manager and using reporting configuration manager.
